What’s the Hang-Up? The Art of Family Politics and Photos explores the stories behind the family photos we display, the ones we tuck away, and the people who may be missing from the frame altogether.

Drawing on original research and real conversations, the book looks at how photographs can shape belonging, memory, identity, and family relationships, often without anyone realizing there’s a story hanging on the wall.

About Tanya

Tanya A. Perdikoulias is a photographer, researcher, author, and speaker whose work focuses on the stories photographs tell and the conversations they can spark.

After more than a decade photographing families, she became increasingly interested in what happened after the picture was taken. Those questions led to original research and eventually to the What’s the Hang-Up? book series.
